MET GALA 2016 THE HAIR ART.

I loved the hair art at the Met Gala this year from a lot of the dressed hair looks down to the great looking cuts. Now I know everyone has their preference but for me the heads of hair were streaks above those worn at the Oscars this year. In fact I thought they were so run of the mill that I didn’t even bother to write a post on them.

Maybe the Met Gala theme of Fashion and Technology brought out the best in hairstylists at this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Arts by giving them the licence to be more creative. Such interesting looks paraded the red carpet from sculptured space looks down to silver 20’s finger waves that really shone along with the designer outfits that were being worn.

There were the usual Hollywood glam looks of the wet look hair combed off the face and the old Hollywood soft waved look which I notice Lady Gaga moved away from for this event. PRINCE THE END OF A PURPLE REIGN.

With the passing of Prince comes the end of a fantastic purple reign. By a music genius whose sounds influenced many artists both within and outside of the music industry.

Upon hearing of his death my mind was suddenly filled with words from his songs.Which in fact kept popping into my head for several days afterwards. Along with a flash back of pictures as to where I was and what I was doing. When I first heard songs such as Purple Rain and When Doves Cry.

I suppose you would say my mind was doing a little bit of reminiscing.

Prince was a flamboyant sexual symbol in the pop music world with his risque songs. Some people in power at the time even looked at Prince as a rather naughty artist due to  the innuendos written within his lyrics. [Read more…]

DARK HAIR WHITE ROOTS|TRY THESE TIPS.

Having very dark hair whether it is black or dark brown looks nice when fresh and shiny. Yet can become a pain when the white hairs start to gain control.

First you start to notice just one or two and that’s no problem. Then before you know it there seems to be quite a few more sprouting up. Time to make them disappear you think.

So you pick up a dark hair color from the store and apply this yourself at home or you run along to your hairstylist for a dark color tint. Happy with the results now everything seems fine. [Read more…]

NEED A FRIZZ FIX|HAIR CONTROL ON THE GO.

A good friend of mine is always saying she needs a quick frizz fix for her long hair. As she puts it ” I’m in the office and get a call to go out to a meeting and of course I want to look great. But low and behold when I glance in the mirror the damn frizz strands are already showing on the top of my head”.

Now a lot of women’s re action to seeing these fly away hairs. Is to pop to the bathroom and try and smooth them down with a little tap water before they venture out. I am sure a lot of you will smile knowingly. Unfortunately this does not solve the problem and in fact only tends to make matters worse.

Having just taken on a new product range in the salon one particular item caught my eye and at the same time tickled my sense of humour.

We are used to seeing face wipes nail wipes and even bottom wipes in little handy packages. But here in amongst the new products was a box of frizz fix hair wipes. Well as they say you learn something new every day. [Read more…]

BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT v’s KERATIN TREATMENT|ANY DIFFERENCE ?

The Brazilian Blowout a product that has been around on the market a considerable while now yet still keeps cropping up in conversations I have with my clients. Questions such as Does it work? Is it safe?  Why don’t you use it in the salon? All pop up now and again.

In answer to the first part of the question yes it does work in straightening and smoothing the frizzes but at what cost. By cost I am not necessarily talking about dollars and cents here. Although I must say it did come to that for the company manufacturing the Brazilian Blowout. In fact in 2012 they had to settle a class-action lawsuit for exposing customers and stylists to toxic levels of formaldehyde gas.

Hum I went on a bit there so let’s get back to my version of cost. What I am talking here is about the cost to your hair over the long term. Also the health of yourself and the staff who are administrating the product. [Read more…]
