With the passing of Prince comes the end of a fantastic purple reign. By a music genius whose sounds influenced many artists both within and outside of the music industry.
Upon hearing of his death my mind was suddenly filled with words from his songs.Which in fact kept popping into my head for several days afterwards. Along with a flash back of pictures as to where I was and what I was doing. When I first heard songs such as Purple Rain and When Doves Cry.
I suppose you would say my mind was doing a little bit of reminiscing.
Prince was a flamboyant sexual symbol in the pop music world with his risque songs. Some people in power at the time even looked at Prince as a rather naughty artist due to the innuendos written within his lyrics.
As with another of the music greats of my time Prince had a big influence on the fashion scene very similar in a way to David Bowie.
With his androgynous style he intrigued people. As he played with the idea of the feminine rather like a spider spinning a web of mystery all about gender and sexuality.
Whether it was with the clothes he wore or the hairstyles he paraded. Prince constantly changed his image.
He was thought to be a little eccentric but at the same time was known to enjoy a rather quite private life.
Yet Prince on stage was very different beast. A presence that was extremely flamboyant in his extravagant dress style. High heels, laced gloves and a ruffled attire.
The hairstyles he wore influenced the way many people wore and styled their hair especially so with the African Americans.
The styles were part of his image. Through out the years he moved from a complete blow out look all the way back to his original Afro hair.
One thing I must say is that the styles he wore were always edgy and fun with a typical Prince vibe.
The Fun Edgy Hairstyles Of Prince.
The Blowout.
Early days wearing a set looking blowout very similar in fact to a Farrah Fawcett hairstyle. That’s if you are old enough to remember her.
The Dandy Bouffant Curls.
With gelled curls that had lots of body and yet no frizz. The way Prince wore his hair was reminiscent of the great rock and roll legend Little Richard.
The Short Pixie.
When he was fighting with his record company he show cased a short pixie look with the word slave written on his cheek.
The Androgynous Look.
Wearing a short look that definitely has a androgynous bouffant feel to it. The fun Prince vibe.
Back To His Roots.

He is the second popular fashion music figure to die this year. Prince was a music Icon and like David Bowie he will be remembered. Not only for his music but also for his fashion and edgy style choices.
