Curly hair in the movies or television is always portrayed by a woman with a head of beautiful bouncy curls. Who tends to make heads turn as she walks down the street.
But unfortunately in reality the fact more often than not. Is that your curly hair tends to be dry and frizzy causing you to go into a panic whenever the weather turns damp or in a hot and humid climate.
Curly hair structure being a corkscrew shape means the cuticle is curved and generally slightly open. Therefore your curly hair is naturally more fragile and dehydrated than straight hair. This means you will need to treat your hair kindly so as to be able to keep it under control.
Why Your Hair Is Curly?
The shape of each strand of hair depends on the nature of its follicle.
The follicle being a tube like indentation in the skin through which the hair grows.
When the shape of the follicle is round and symmetrical the hair strand that emerges is round and straight.
Curly hair is produced when the follicle is asymmetric in shape. Or more like an elongated oval and yes this mainly all down to your genes.
Unfortunately curly hair nearly always tends to be much drier than straight hair. This is partly due to the fact that the natural oils produced by the scalp have a much harder job to travel down the length of the hair shaft.
