Celebrity hairstyles do they influence you? Yes believe it or not they do and they influence us all in some way or another. Celebs such as Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez. In Asia where I live the likes of Sammi Cheng and G Dragon.
We all are influenced both male and female. Although some of us to a much larger degree than others.
There has always been an influence by pop and film stars on hair fashion. Gee I remember as a young teenager walking into a unisex hairdressers and asking for a David Bowie hairstyle color and all. My mum went crazy when I arrived home but I didn’t care.

But now with social media helping it along the celebrity hairstyle culture has almost become an obsession. We are living in a celebrity focused world where to be seen with a head of healthy responsive hair. Is virtually a social status symbol.
As a hairstylist myself. I find without even thinking about it that I am checking out pictures and articles of popular celebrity hairstyles. Noting any change in their hair color or hairstyle. As I feel there would be nothing worse than finding myself in a position where my client knows a lot more than I do about a certain look.
Love or hate the celebrity you cannot deny that they have a great influence on hair fashion today. Both for you the consumer and your hairstylist.
Celebrity Hairstyles What You Must Remember.
You may find yourself influenced by the latest look that your favorite celeb’s hairstylist has just created on her hair. Then disappeared into the bathroom to look in the mirror and taken a long and perhaps critical look at your own hairstyle.
But wait.
Before you start being too hard on yourself it is important that you realize one thing.
Most of these celebs are rarely seen in front of a camera or in the public eye. Without first spending a lot of time in their hairdressers as well as their make- up artist’s chair.

Reality 1. You have to remember with the photo that you are seeing of your favorite celebrity hairstyle.
Photo Shop may in fact have played a very important role in the finished article.
Reality 2. Face shapes and hair texture are a major element when it comes to choosing a new hairstyle.
The celebrity who’s hairstyle you have chosen could in fact have a different face shape and bone structure than your own. The other aspect is that his or her hair may be of a completely different texture or density than the hair on your head.
Reality 3. Another point to ponder is that the celebrity may have added hair.
You would never know if real human hair extensions had been added to produce that particular celebrity hairstyle. Extensions are very often used by a celeb’ hairstylist so as to instantly add a look of fullness or hair length to the finished style.
3 Celebrity Hairstyles That Stand Out As Being Very Influential.
With the exposure on social media, Instagram and Pinterest everybody has a great exposure to celebrity hairstyles. In fact you can find that without realizing it you can be constantly looking at them.
Just to give you an example.
If someone asked you which is your favorite hairstyle? Would a certain celebrity jump into your mind?
I know that it happens with me.
These are the three celeb hairstyles that I feel were very influential.
Celeb 1. Jennifer Aniston.
Ah yes the ‘Rachel’ cut as it was known in hair circles. The look was worn by Jennifer Aniston in the very popular 1980’s show ‘Friends’.
This celebrity hairstyle became the look to have for millions of women all around the globe. Working in a top London salon at the time I remember cutting ‘Rachel ‘haircuts all day long on some weekends.
This has to be the most popular celebrity hairstyle ever.
Celeb 2. Victoria Beckham.
Victoria Beckham gained major social media attention when she gave up her long hair extensions and had her hair cut short.
The asymmetric bob shape came to be known as the ‘Posh’ bob. This was another example of a celeb hairstyle that became very popular with everyone.
Celeb 3. Rihanna.
Rihanna was a strong influence with her rebellious looking hairstyle.
The combination of long hair on the top with an undercut of very short or even shaved sides.
Have a quick think were you influenced?
Did you ever wear a ‘Rachel” a ‘Posh” bob or undercut your long hair.
The Power Of The Celebrity.
Famous people have always shaped and influenced hairstyles as well as all fashion trends throughout history.

What is a fashionable hairstyle?
A fashionable hairstyle. Is wearing a hair style which is considered popular and cool.
Why is that? Usually because a famous celebrity has been seen wearing that hairstyle.
Product companies know how we think. They should do as they spend thousands of dollars each year to work out how they can influence us to make a purchase.
The power of the celebrity hairstyles work. Look at the amount of celebrity’s being used to endorse hair products. The names of two big players in the hair market L’Oréal and Estee Lauder jump straight to mind.
Using celebs to endorse their products is good for the company’s PR as well as for driving up the sales. The idea being that you and I as consumers will listen to what they say.
Especially if we believe that the celebrity endorsing their product is in fact actually using it themselves.
Revlon were one of the first companies to do this and very successfully so in the 1980’s. By using celebrity’s Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer to promote their products
Why That Celebrity Hairstyle.
The hairstyle that you wear tends to go in tandem with your attire and communicates a certain feeling and attitude to the world.
As humans we are all social animals we all love having friends and being liked.
We strive to fit in to our group or tribe or society’s definition of what we should be like. Wearing your hair in a certain way can help portray this.
So in a sense a particular celebrity hairstyle becomes very popular not only for the look of the hair. But also because we like what that celeb stands for. Their image and the lifestyle that they portray be it real or fiction.
When a celebrity is liked and presented to us as society’s definition of what we should be. Or in some cases what we shouldn’t be.
Social media and the press bombard us with pictures of that look.
Celebrity Attitude Punk Rock.
The time of Punk rock was a good example of celebrity hairstyles that the mass media didn’t like.
This was a time when certain celebrity’s were presented to us as society’s definition of what you should not be.
Why? Because Punk rock communicated an anti social attitude.
The hairstyles of the punk era were strong and outrageous. Rock groups like The Sex Pistols would spit at their audience and taunt the world.
The whole look was aggressive.
Society was fearful. People would cross the road if they saw a group of punks coming in their direction.
The image that they were giving to the world was anti-establishment.
Young people who were not happy with the system at the time wore a punk hairstyle.
Toned down variations of the punk look were slowly beginning to be seen in mainstream society.
But toned down or not the message still remained the same. Anti-establishment.
With the constant bombardment of magazines and social media over time consciously or subconsciously without realizing it we are all influenced in some way.
