CELEBRITY HAIRSTYLES DO THEY INFLUENCE YOU.

Written by Melvin

Celebrity Hairstyles The Rachel Cut

Celebrity hairstyles do they influence you? Yes believe it or not they do and they influence us all in some way or another. Celebs such as Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez. In Asia where I live the likes of Sammi Cheng and G Dragon.

We all are influenced both male and female. Although some of us to a much larger degree than others.

There has always been an influence by pop and film stars on hair fashion. Gee I remember as a young teenager walking into a unisex hairdressers and asking for a David Bowie hairstyle color and all. My mum went crazy when I arrived home but I didn’t care. [Read more…]

DONALD’S HAIRSTYLE WILL IT TRUMP AMERICA.

Written by Melvin

Donalds Hairstyle

Donald’s hairstyle is one of the most well known heads of hair in the world and definitely the most talked about in any American election. Now the question is will it trump America and reside in the White House for a few years.

The funny thing is that when I wrote my post 5 hairstyles which one has the 2016 presidential look earlier this year everyone thought that Donald was a bit of a joke.

Those in power gave him no chance at all expecting him to fall out of the running at the first hurdle. Well now it seems that they have ended up with egg on their face.

I would think that Donald Trump himself is more than a little surprised by how well he and his hair have performed. [Read more…]

MET GALA 2016 THE HAIR ART.

Written by Melvin

Met Gala 2016 Taylor Swift.

I loved the hair art at the Met Gala this year from a lot of the dressed hair looks down to the great looking cuts. Now I know everyone has their preference but for me the heads of hair were streaks above those worn at the Oscars this year. In fact I thought they were so run of the mill that I didn’t even bother to write a post on them.

Maybe the Met Gala theme of Fashion and Technology brought out the best in hairstylists at this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Arts by giving them the licence to be more creative. Such interesting looks paraded the red carpet from sculptured space looks down to silver 20’s finger waves that really shone along with the designer outfits that were being worn.

There were the usual Hollywood glam looks of the wet look hair combed off the face and the old Hollywood soft waved look which I notice Lady Gaga moved away from for this event. The Met Gala is fashions big crazy night and it always has a way of bringing you something rather unusual, which is I love. [Read more…]

PRINCE THE END OF A PURPLE REIGN.

Written by Melvin

Prince In Purple

With the passing of Prince comes the end of a fantastic purple reign. By a music genius whose sounds influenced many artists both within and outside of the music industry.

Upon hearing of his death my mind was suddenly filled with words from his songs.Which in fact kept popping into my head for several days afterwards. Along with a flash back of pictures as to where I was and what I was doing. When I first heard songs such as Purple Rain and When Doves Cry.

I suppose you would say my mind was doing a little bit of reminiscing.

Prince was a flamboyant sexual symbol in the pop music world with his risque songs. Some people in power at the time even looked at Prince as a rather naughty artist due to  the innuendos written within his lyrics. [Read more…]

DAVID BOWIE HIS INFLUENCE ON HAIR FASHION.

Written by Melvin

David Bowie In Labyrinth

With the death of David Bowie I did a little bit of reminiscing about his influence on hair fashions as well as clothes.

My youth was happily filled with the sounds of his inspirational music. As well as the visual kaleidoscope of the clothes and haircuts people would be wearing as they went to his live concerts.

In fact my early experience in the hairdressing profession in London.

Was one of clients both male and female coming into the salon sitting in the chair and requesting a haircut like Ziggy Stardust.

David Bowie In Labyrinth

Looking back now I realise how much Bowie was out there and a hero and inspiration to many people who felt different.

His flamboyant outfits and experimental hairstyles revolutionised fashion by setting trends for both men and women.

It was only after moving to Asia later in my life.

I realised how much Japanese theatre and manga comics had an influence on David’s thinking.

David Bowie’s hairstyles and clothes designs were always changing with each new character he assumed.

From the outlandish he would then flip to to a style that was dapper and debonair.

No matter what.

His hair looks were always at the front of fashion dictating the way men and women on the street styled their hair.

Today I will reminisce with what I think are some of David Bowie’s most influential hair looks.

Ziggy Stardust David Bowie’s Alter Ego.

David Bowie took the music and fashion scene by storm when he invented and unveiled the androgynous Ziggy Stardust.

Which happened to be just a short while after homosexuality had become legal in Britain.

Rock alien Ziggy Stardust was sexually ambiguous but desirable to both male and female.

Ziggy came with shaved eyebrows make up and a bright orange mullet haircut.

The orange mullet hair style was a look that was copied by both men and women and in varying degrees of hair length.

With colors ranging from black to orange and white blonde. David Bowie’s spiky mullet was a very popular street look.

 Ziggy Stardust

The Thin White Duke A Dandy David Bowie.

Moving away from the glam look David Bowie took on a new persona as the Thin White Duke.

When living in New York and at the height of his drug use.

The thin white duke’s dress was an impeccable cabaret style.

The image of a plain white shirt, waistcoat and dark trousers with the hair slicked back and flat was very dandy.

This look was used as the cover on one of his best albums LOW.

 Bowie The Thin White Duke.

Let’s Dance 80’s Bowie.

A very commercial sound on the Let’s Dance album.

Which produced a couple of hits among them the fairly controversial China Girl single.

Bowie sported the real look of the 80’s.

A half mullet haircut that was feathered so as to create a big fluffy full hair look .

8o's Half Mullet Hairstyle.

David Bowie 2000.

It was at Glastonbury rock festival in 2000 that Bowie wowed his audience and showed he was always ahead of the curve.

Wearing his hair long in a beach wave look which has been popular with men and women to this day.

David Bowie Beach Curls

Street Style Bowie.

On his final tour Bowie once again changed his persona by incorporating street style into stage wear.

So complimenting the grunge rock era of the time.

His hairstyle flopping in a messy waxed unkempt look.

David Bowie Casual Look

David Bowie was a very talented man who had an influence over many people’s youth be it by his music, clothes or hairstyles he wore. May he rest in peace.
