In your mind you are thinking how easy it will be to create the same look at home. “Maybe 10 to 15 minutes spent in the morning on my blow dry and I can be off to work” you tell yourself.
Now if you have been around the block a bit you will know that this is not always the case. You may have children to feed or an exercise regime to carry out first. Then running behind schedule you end up with a couple of minutes to blow dry your hair. Not the ten or fifteen minutes you had hoped for.
To make sure you get out the door in time you short cut your hairs blow drying time.
Only to find a little later when you look at your hair the bounce you left home with has disappeared. Your hair is definitely not looking as it should be.

To Speed Up You Start Taking Larger Sections.
It is easy when in a hurry to take large sections. Thinking that you will get the blow dry completed quickly.
This is one of the most common blow dry errors.Because the reality is the top of the thick sections will be dry but the underneath parts will still be damp. This will mean that your blow dry effort will collapse very quickly. As the underneath hair dries.
You can work fast but start at the bottom layers of your hair and work upwards. Making sure that your sections are no bigger than the width and depth of your brushes bristles.
Mistake 2.
You Are Holding The Blow Dryer To Close.
I will hold my hairdryer close to my hair so as to reduce the drying time. Now I am sure that you can remember doing this once or twice before.
Wrong not a good move at all. In fact one of blow dry errors you should definitely avoid.
By doing this you can burn the hair that’s on the top of your section. You can also find that you over dry your hair which will then lead to hair breakage.
Now if you don’t want hair breakage or burn to happen to your hair. Ensure that you always keep your dryer nozzle approximately 6 inches from your hair.

For a smooth and flat look think paddle brush but smooth and bouncy think large round brush.
Try to avoid brushes that have a metal barrel. Due to the aspect that the metal centre can heat up just like an iron. Which may lead to over dried or burnt hair and that one of the blow dry errors you don’t want.
Aim for a wooden brush with boar bristles as these are great for creating a smooth finish on your hair.
As to the size of your brush.
Think big if you have curly or frizzy hair. The bigger the brush the smoother the hair.

Using Your Round Brush On Very Wet Hair.
Now you may see your hair stylist doing this when they blow dry your hair in the salon. Why because it is very effective.
But doing this yourself can end up being very tiring on your arms. The result being you will often give up half way. Or just do a quick job at the end.
To get out of this blow dry error think of drying most of the moisture out of your hair first. By using a paddle brush or your fingers. Only then pick up your round brush to create the finished look.
This is especially so if you happen to have any sort of fringe. So as to avoid a bump effect in the root area.

You Don’t Allow Your Hair To Set.
One of the blow dry errors you can make when drying your hair at home is to not let the hair set.
Letting your hair set is a very important ingredient to a longer lasting blow dry.
Always let your hair cool down on the brush before moving on to the next section of your hair.
This way you are actually letting the hydrogen bonds which are broken down by water. Reform as your dried hair cools.
If you remember to do this you will definitely find that your hair style has longer staying power.

How Old Is Your Hair Dryer?
Now you may have a soft spot for the hair dryer that has served you well for many years.
But unfortunately hair dryers like most electrical appliances do expire after a few years. They have a habit of not regulating the heat.
If that happens you can find your dryer can get very hot. Great you think it will dry my hair faster. But in reality you can end up burning your hair.
Technology moves on. Hairdryers are much kinder to the hair now a days.
If you are looking at up grading in the near future think in the terms of an ionic hair dryer.
Mistake 7.
Using Too Much Product On Your Hair.
You want your hairstyle to hold so adding a styling product to your hair before you blow dry is a good idea.
But be careful and even more so if you happen to have fine hair. Using too much product can be heavy and end up weighing your hair down.
Think less is more. As a little can go a long way especially if you are using good quality products.
